Abdul Hakeem (Urdu:عپدالحکیم) is a city in Khanewal District in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It lies 17 kilometres from Tulamba.[1]

Casts

Major casts are Miana, Araain,Gujjar,Rajput Ganpal,Shaikh, Sial, Bhatti, Pahod,Qureshi etc Miana and descendents of Peer Mubarak Shah Tribes have vital role in Islamicism . Miana are descendents of Famous Local Saint Baba Abdul Hakeem and Mai safoora (r.a)[2] (Urdu:حضرت مائی صفورہ).

Local languages

Local languages are Punjabi(Jhangwi) , Saraiki, etc. Now, urdu speaking family number is also increasing.

Education

F.G. Public School, The Government High School, Government Digree College and Government College for Girls are the main educational centres for the people of Abdul Hakim.

Famous poetry collection Kulliyat-e-saleh muhammad safoori was also published from Abdul Hakeem. The writer of poetry collection, Saleh muhammad safoori was the son of Mai safoora.[3] (See also:Sahibzada Yousaf Tahir)

Occupation/Trade

Major trade is agriculture, Cotton is the cash crop of region. There are a few Cotton Ginning Factories in Abdul Hakim, which facilitate local farmers. The oldest is Abdullah Industries.

Transport

Abdul Hakeem is linked by road to Mian Channu, Multan, Faisalabad, Kaccha Khooh, and Makhdoom Pur. An interchange is being constructed which will connect traffic between Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore and Faisalabad.

Religion

99% habitants are Muslims. Madrassas of Brailvi and Deobandi school of thought, are operating in the city.

Population

According to the Population-statistics.com, there are 52999 habitants. The population is increasing day by day due to increasing number of available facilities.
